Forever Horses – Session 5 Off To A Great Start!

Mounted Eagles is proud to partner with The Pohl Children’s Foundation  to provide therapeutic, developmental and educational equine-assisted activities to children who have lost a parent or sibling and/or children with life threatening illnesses and their siblings. This program is called Forever Horses.

Session 5 of “Forever Horses” began on Thursday, March 21st. We have 5 individuals participating in this session with all 5 returning for consecutive lessons. The family, human and horses, that they have found at Forever Horses has become a huge part of their lives.

This session finds the horses and riders facing some new adventures and challenges! “Letting Go” and trusting their horse and volunteer to keep them safe is a big step for these guys. They are also learning that hard work, such as cleaning out the stalls for the horses is “Fun when you do it with friends!” – A direct quote from one the Forever Horses kids.

Their experiences working with horses in a therapeutic setting will carry over into their lives as well as their families,  We at Mounted Eagles are fortunate to be a part of helping to make these changes for these individuals.   Working alongside a horse, in spite of our fears, creates confidence and provides wonderful insight when dealing with other intimidating and challenging situations in life. The horse is the magic piece that becomes the “change agent.”

The Pohl Children’s Foundation and Mounted Eagles have been awarded a collaborative grant from Sourcewell to fund Forever Horses.
